Creating a garden starts as an interest and soon becomes a lifetime’s obsession and one that can be engaged at a moment’s notice by simply stepping outside.

This Beautiful Fantastic Bali

Images of the lovely island of Bali would not be complete without  beaches, rice paddies, stone carvings, and tropical plants (and scooters). From our recent trip:
Our Balinese cottage at the Belmond on Jimbaran Bay. Excellent cottage style hotel right on the beach with amazing food, wonderful pool, and the nicest staff. I highly recommend this hotel for its beachfront location, garden style spa, and perfect size (small enough to feel intimate).
Couldn't have picked a better place to stay. Fell asleep each night to the sound of the waves.

The black and white buffalo check fabric is ubiquitous in southern Bali. You will see it wrapped around all the roadside shrines and many trees and other sacred objects. It offers protections from the dark spirits in the nighttime.

Scooters EVERYWHERE!!!
